Beginners Course
Surf Zone Beginners course provides a strong mix of practical, theory and safety, with the aim of having you up on the board and surfing by the end of the 10hours.
The Course focus's not only on kite surfing but also understanding the rigging of the kite and lines, understanding the wind and weather conditions, and knowing how to react in certain situations. The classes usually start with some theory then followed by a check of your capability of controlling a kite. We start with a small soft kite (ram air) on the beach.
This is done to understand the (window) this means where the kite can fly, windows edge, soft power, full power zone, flying the kite using a harness, starting and landing, flying with one hand. The beach training usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on each person.
After the short beach training, we go straight into the water, in the water we practice first the bodydrag in both directions, with and without harness, relaunching the kites out of deep water, controlling the kites with one hand.
Once the kite is controlled and relaunched out of deep water we start with the board. After understanding the process of getting the board under your feet, lining it up properly. Then flying the kite to get the exact amount of power to lift you onto the board. It is then just a matter of a lot of practice.
All our training sessions are done on 4 or 5 line kites. Should a person request, we can provide a 2-line kite for practising. On average it takes between six to elever hours to grasp the basic understanding and use of the kite and board. After then you should be flying!
