Skyriders & Club Mistral - Mauritius

Location: Mauritius

Our centre lies under shady palms, with a view out onto the spot.

Directly in front of the Club Mistral centre, you can blast away across the lagoon on shallow water with a sideshore wind from the left. The upwind beach section is about 300 m long. The entire lagoon is bordered by a reef, located about 600 m offshore. The reef is relatively smooth and is about 1 m below the surface, allowing you to ride down the 1-2 m waves without risk. Depending on the tidal hub, the water may be too flat at ebb tide, making it necessary to wait for about 2 hours before surfing there again. If conditions are right, the spot is also suitable for wave novices making their first attempts at wave riding.

There are a number of clearly visible reefs in the lagoon that have to be circumvented. We therefore recommend that you wear shoes in the lagoon. There is a further challenge for very experienced wave riders about 2 km away: the outer reef, Manawa, with mast-high waves. We offer all proficient wave riders regular surf excursions there. If conditions are too dangerous, we cannot offer these trips and trust that you will appreciate our reasons.

Please do not forget that you must observe our on-site team's instructions, as the current, tides and waves may be somewhat dangerous, depending on conditions, and your safety is our top priority.
