Farmhouse Holiday Cottages - Sao Bras de Alportel. Two 1 bed Cottages, sleeps up to 4 in each.
Built in 1916, the Farmhouse is situated on the quiet outskirts of the old market town of Sao Bras de Alportel. This makes access to cafes, restaurants & the local market within an easy 10 minute walk. It is only a short distance into the rolling hills where you can experience the tranquillity of the 'real' Portugal, or 20 minutes to the famous Algarve sandy beaches.
The farmhouse garden is a place to relax amongst the fig, olive, carob and lemon trees. The original cisterna is now utilised as a 3x3m plunge pool to refresh and cool down from the heat of the day.
Accommodation:
The Farmhouse has 2 one bedroom Cottages that can sleep 4 in each: The Old Barn - Twin or double bed and very comfortable double sofa bed, and The Hayloft - Double bed and very comfortable double sofa bed. The cottages are self catering but we can arrange BBQ's, stews, lasagne, curries and other 'energy' foods. There is Sky TV for the extreme sports addicts, and storage for bikes is available, but please bring your own lock.
The Airport is a 15/20 min drive & we can arrange transfers. We would need to know in advance of any equipment you will be bringing in order to arrange appropriate transport.
There is an endless list of activities available in the area from go-carting, golf, water parks to horse riding. It just depends on what you fancy....

The price is based on 2 people sharing a one bedroom cottage, but can sleep up to 4 in each cottage.

Booking notes:
To secure a booking we require a completed booking form and a 30% deposit. The remaining balance is due 4 weeks prior to arrival. We can accept payment via Paypal (credit/debit cards), personal cheque, internet banking or at your local Lloyds TSB branch (UK).

It is strongly advised that you have adequate insurance to cover third party, personal liability and equipment. We accept no responsibility for any loss or damage to yourself or equipment.

Description |
From Sao Bras there are several beaches all within a 20 minute drive. From Quinta do Lago where there is a beach and several nature walks, to Tavira Island, Faro beach, and Vilamoura Marina. All of which are within easy reach.
ROCK CLIMBING:
Is possible in Rocha da Penna, from grades 2c up to 8b, mainly 6's. Near to Salir, 30 minutes drive from the Farmhouse.
MOUNTAIN BIKING (BTT/VTT):

-No mud just dust! (we've got a drought)
-Endless amount of routes from the Farmhouse gate.
-Routes to suit all skill levels from easy treks to stupid scary stuff (body armour recommended)
-We're happy to show you all the known local tracks & descents with our OTC trained - Technical Mountain bike leader Darren
-Good for everyone as the riders can go & get bruises whilst the others go to the beaches, shopping malls, horse riding, and golf etc or just relaxing!
-Bring your own bike or bike hire is available, from kids to full suspension, delivered to the Farmhouse. We're happy to book them for your arrival.
-Use of tools and pumps etc. If we've not got what you need, the local bike shop has it all & only 5 min ride or a 15min walk away
-Ride with the local Portuguese trail builders. It's a big community for the size town due to the perfect freeride conditions in the local hills. They organise many events throughout the cooler months, starting with the 80km & 30 km cross country routes with a pinch of freeride roughness. KITESURFING:

-Many islands in the Faro National Park to kite around (flat water)
-Waves outside the islands to play in for big air.

-Predominant winds are East & West. Perfect x-shore wind for the beaches either side of Faro.
-Nearest Beach is 20 min from the Farmhouse.
GOLF:
There are 24 golf courses on the Algarve, 20 of them within 30 min drive; Vilamoura/Almancil - 15 courses, 20-30 min drive, and Tavira - 5 courses, 20 min drive.
FLIGHTS:
Faro airport is used by many airlines, so is very competitive resulting in cheap flights!!! To compare prices of these airlines try this useful website www.skyscanner.net
CAR HIRE:
Is recommended but is not a necessity. We work in partnership with www.autorent.pt they have very competitive prices, you can pick up and drop off the car at Faro Airport. Just quote OFF73 and farmhousealgarve when making an enquiry. Alternatively the local taxis & public transport can be cost effective depending on the distances you'd like to cover during your stay.

The banks are open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3pm and are closed weekends and bank holidays. There are at least 4 cash points within the town.
The Sao Bras market runs everyday except Sunday, selling fresh vegetables, fruit and of course fresh fish. Opens around 7.30am and closes at 1pm. There are two gypsy markets near Sao Bras. Quarteira on a Wednesday morning and Loule on a Saturday morning, selling everything from shoes and handbags to DVDs and tablecloths.
There are many restaurants in the local area, around 30 in total, many within walking distance. Shops open around 10am, close around 1pm for siesta and then re-open from 3pm till 7pm. Many shops are closed on a Saturday afternoon and Sundays. Supermarkets generally remain open from 9am to 8pm. There are two main shopping centres on the Algarve: the 'Algarve Forum' on the N125 in Faro and 'Algarve Shopping' in Guia. These are both large shopping centres and are open all day, 7 days a week. Sao Bras is famous for its cork, the company Pelcore has a shop selling items made from cork such as handbags. |
