We are about to begin our 2006 season at our new kite school in Phuket. The island, the biggest in Thailand, offers us some amazing sites and steady winds. Do you like warm water, waves, white sand, riding your 12m2 or 14m2, spicy food and vibrant night life? You will love Phuket!!!
Situated 800 km from Bangkok and about the size of Singapore (50 x 25 kms) Phuket is blessed with magnificent coves, wide bays, and glorious palmed-fringed beaches. From a plane it looks like an emerald place in a turquoise sea! About 70 percent of Phuket is mountainous. A western range runs from north to south from which smaller branches derive. The highest peak is Mai Tha Sip Song, or Twelve Canes, at 529 meters.
Phuket, like our spots in Hua Hin and Koh Samui, gets northeast wind from October to March and southwest wind from April to September. This gives us perfect side-onshore wind all year on both sides of the island. Your spots will be Karon, Kamala or Nai Yang beach in the summer and Chalong, Rawai or Laem Ka beach in the winter. However, Phuket is also an archipelago with more than 80 islands surrounding it. Koh Phi Phi, Koh Yao, Koh Lanta, Raya Yai or the Similans… perhaps you can go kiting there as well!
For our 1st season in Phuket, we prefer to stay mobile to find the best spots and wind direction on the island. We can offer the same quality as our centers in Hua Hin & Koh samui. We will have stocks of Airush and Cabrinha equipment and much more. If you’re looking for accommodation that will be close to the best spot choose an area coinciding with the time of year.
October to March : southeast of the island.
April to September : northwest of the island

If you would like to do more than just kiteboarding, the island offers many other water sports activities such as surfing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, sailing, deep sea fishing, scuba-diving, snorkeling, sea canoeing and elephant riding. Yes, in the water! On land you can go mountain biking, go carting, bungee jumping, Thai boxing, golfing, target shooting and of course just lie on the beach and relax...
Phuket also has a butterfly farm, the biggest aquarium in Thailand, a rare stones & sea shell museum, and a zoo with birds, snakes, tigers, elephants and more than 6000 crocodiles. It has a national park, mangrove forests, temples, and waterfalls such as Bang pae, Kathu and Ton Sai. Fun events at different times of the year include the King’s cup Regatta, Vegetarian festival, Full moon parties and Asia’s biggest gay party featuring some of the world's top circuit DJs.
Phuket is rapidly emerging as not only a popular holiday resort, but also as a centre for health and wellness. The quality of medical care is high. Whether you develop a health problem or not, or are seeking a specialized treatment, you'll find that the island's health facilities are well equipped to handle most of your needs. You will find places for fasting and detox, yoga and meditation. Phuket is unquestionably a healthy holiday destination.
