Soma Bay is good for all levels but is especially good for complete beginners or those looking to progress. There is a very high level of instruction on hand and the shallow flat water is just perfect for training. Combined with the facilities of a 5 star hotel, all on site, this resort is ideal for kiters with families or non-kiting partners. Soma Bay is ideal for those wanting to combine windsurfing and kitesurfing. The conditions are very good for all levels and the area is large enough to allow both activities without any clash Where is Soma Bay? If you are a windsurfer, and you have been to Egypt then you will probably have heard of Safaga and Soma Bay is just 10 minutes drive north of there. Personally we find the industrial skyline of Safaga a little offensive on the eye so it was with great delight that we heard of the newly constructed Intercontinental Abu Soma Resort, where you can enjoy the same wind with clear uninterrupted views of the Red Sea. The spot consists of two main bays; one directly in front of the hotel and the other just up wind of the centre. There is a good-sized waist high area just in front of the centre that is perfect for beginners. Both bays offer super flat conditions although the up wind bay has the added benefit of super clean wind. This spot is just amazing for beginners and intermediate looking to build confidence.

Itinerary

SURF & ACTION (INTERCONTI. ONLY) CENTRE

The Surf Motion center been running in Soma Bay since April 2005 with 50 meters of the shallow flat water directly off the beach just next to the luxury Intercontinental Hotel. At the centre there is a panorama terrace with its own bar and shaded area, showers, toilets and changing rooms. The VDWS center is equipped with newest material from Fanatic and Spleene.

The wind basically lies our line in the same wind area such as Hurghada and Safaga. To be sure that in the north lying offers high country tongue to 30m an airplane wing effect by what means the wind is reinforced by approximately a half until entire wind strength. It is common here for there to be wind to be at its best in the early part of the day until 10/11 clock; in the summer months the wind can pick up in the afternoon (driven by the land heating up quickly) and blow all day until sunset! The super clean and reliable wind here is side shore.

7 BFT (SOMA BAY MAIN RESORT)

Soma Bay's 7BFT kite surf centre is a complete kite surf teaching and testing centre with state of the art equipment for teaching and hire. Professionals and beginners are both catered for with video and headset training aids that make learning to kite surf and improving your technique easier, and safer. The course follow the IKO standards os excellent, as with all our PLANET’S schools.

7BFT offers exclusive teaching and testing weeks with the latest Naish and Carved equipment throughout the year. A kite surf bar, accessory shop and top of the range gear hire station is also available on site at our exclusive centre.
